ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Karin Brettmeister is the designer and founder of Ritual Unions. She takes the radical route, both in her designs and in her business. She completely “bootstrapped” the company. Meaning, the whole brand was built from scratch, based on organic growth from the beginning in 2017 until now. Radical is also her view on sustainability: Every single piece is handmade in the own atelier - no external production at all!

Her forever inspiration are her grandparents’ love and craft. They were married and in love their whole life and were running a small tailoring studio. Karin's passion for fashion was evident early in her life. After successfully completing her fashion design studies at ESMOD Munich as the best in her class, she developed couture collections for Marchesa in New York and J. Mendel in Paris, among others, before launching Ritual Unions.

“Being a business owner is a roller coaster ride with many highs and many lows. I am happy about every achievement […] But what moves me most emotionally are the special moments with my customers, […] the whole creation process from the first to the last fitting. When brides send me pictures of their wedding, when there are tears of joy, the appreciation of my work. These moments are unique and incomparable and what makes my job a dream job ultimately.”
