1. Beschreibe dich in 3 Worten.

Ich bin sehr geduldig vor allem in Bezug auf Menschen (Mein Freund sagte letztens: "Du gehst halt den richtigen Weg, nicht den einfachen."). Ich bin ein Macher-Typ und laber nicht gerne rum. Und ein Träumer: einerseits schlafe ich gerne und im wachen Leben lebe ich für meine Vision.

2. Warum Brautmode?

Ich finde Brautmode besonders spannend, weil die Experimentierfreiheit sehr groß ist. Brautmode galt lange als sehr klassisch, zeitlos und traditionell. Heutzutage legt man allgemein mehr Wert auf Individualität und will sich auch auf der Hochzeit nicht für andere verkleiden, sondern seine einzigartige Persönlichkeit unterstreichen. Allerdings ist es nicht nur mein Ziel, eine diversere Range an Braut-Designs zu kreieren, mich reizt auch die Magie, die von einem Brautkleid ausgeht. Es ist DAS besondere Kleidungsstück im Leben.

3. Was liegt dir bei deiner Arbeit besonders am Herzen?

Mein Ziel ist es, irgendwann komplett nachhaltige Brautmode produzieren zu können. Ich achte sehr darauf, möglichst wenig Ressourcen zu verschwenden und fertige nur auf Bestellung. Bei den Materialien musste ich leider bisher immer Kompromisse eingehen, weil das Angebot von nachhaltigen Stoffen wie feine Spitze und Stickereien etwas zu Wünschen übrig lässt - bis einfach nicht vorhanden ist - und ich nicht will, dass die Aesthetik darunter leidet. Trotz allem, tue ich was in meiner Macht steht und bleibe am Ball.

4. Was war die Motivation für dein eigenes Label?

Ich wollte mich schon immer selbstständing machen. Meine Großeltern hatten ihr eigenes Schneideratelier, mein Dad ist auch selbstständig. Ich habe ehrlich gesagt nie über ein Leben nachgedacht, in dem ich kein Label gründe. Irgendwie war das für mich schon immer klar. Ich habe mich so sehr auf Couture- und Brautmode spezialisiert und ich liebe es, immer tiefer in dieses Thema einzutauchen. Alle Business-Aspekte finde ich total herausfordernd und es gibt nichts geileres, immer wieder dazu zu lernen. Ich kann diese eine Sache richtig gut und es macht mir Spaß, aber ich kann nichts anderes, ich hätte also gar keine Alternative ;)

5. Was macht Ritual Unions besonders?

Das diverse Angebot, über das ich vorhin schon gesprochen habe, ist sehr besonders. Mir ist wichtig, dass möglichst jede Braut etwas bei mir findet, worin sie sich wohl fühlt. Abgesehen davon, ist unsere Produktion etwas sehr seltenes: Bei uns wird alles im eigenen Atelier in Berlin handgefertigt. Das heißt, jedes einzelne Teil geht durch meine Hand und lange Produktionswege und Lieferketten sowie Massen- und Billigproduktion wird von Anfang an ausgeschlossen. UND ich habe eine viel höhere Kontrolle über die Qualität. Außerdem ermöglicht uns die eigene Produktion auch das Realisieren von aufwendigeren Techniken und komplizierteren Designs, die eine auswärtige Schneiderei z. B. so gar nicht umsetzen könnte. In der Gründungsphase des Labels habe ich sogar jedes einzelne Teil selbst genäht und auch heute sitze ich 60 % meiner Zeit an der Nähmaschine oder am Schneidertisch.

6. Wie würdest du die Ritual Unions Braut beschreiben?

Das Motto der letzten Kollektion lautete: "It's 2021. You can wear whatever the f** you want." Die Ritual Unions Braut macht genau das. Sie zieht an, was ihr gefällt und scheißt auf die Gesellschaftsnormen. Ganz egal, was andere denken könnten, ob durchsichtig, ein schwarzes Kleid oder Shorts. Alles ist erlaubt, hauptsache man fühlt sich wohl.

7. Was inspiriert dich?

Ich finde meine Inspiration überall: Musik, Literatur, Kunst, Natur oder sogar Psychologie und Esotherik. Es kann auch eine Muse sein, die einen besonderen Vibe ausstrahlt und mich zu einem Design inspiriert. Oder eine herausfordernde Lebenssituation, die mir neue Einsichten bietet und neue Impulse entstehen lässt. Meistens weiß ich aber selbst gar nicht genau, wo die Ideen her kommen. Oft entstehen sie einfach in meinem Unterbewusstsein, so dass ich selbst manchmal überrascht bin, welches Design am Ende dabei heraus kommt.

8. Wer ist deine absolute Stil-Ikone?

In Bezug auf Modedesign: Alexander McQueen, ganz klar. Eine Stil-Ikone im Sinne von einer berühmten Person, habe ich nicht, bzw. gibt es mehrere, sodass ich mich nicht festlegen möchte. In meinem persönlichen Stil, unabhängig von Brautmode, verehre ich Ikonen wie Axl Rose (in jung), Curt Kobain oder Freddie Mercury. Abgesehen von letzterem sind das vielleicht keine Mode-Ikonen und lustigerweise auch alles Männer, aber sie haben einfach ihr Ding durchgezogen und das macht sie authentisch und meiner Meinung nach zu Vorbildern.

9. Welches ist dein (aktuelles) Lieblingsdesign?

Schwierigste Frage ever. Alle meine Designs sind für mich etwas total intimes und sind ja aus meinem Innersten entstanden. Oft träume ich vor dem Launch einer neuen Kollektion, dass ich schwanger bin. Meine Kleider sind also quasi wie Babies für mich und da kann ich mich auf keinen Liebling festlegen. Die Lieblingsdesigns meiner Kunden sind auf jeden Fall das Shadow Dress und das Jen Dress. Interessanterweise habe ich mir beim Designprozess dieser beiden Kleider vorgenommen, nur das zu machen, was ICH will, ohne darüber nachzudenken, ob das bei den Kunden auch gut ankommt. Tätsächlich sind die beiden Kleider die beliebtesten geworden.

10. Welchen Styling-Tipp würdest du jeder Braut mit auf den Weg geben?

Da gibt es keine allgemeingültigen Regeln. Ich persönlich bin eher der Typ "go big or go home" und übertreibe gerne mal beim Styling. Allerdings habe ich auch Phasen, wo ich mich lieber minimalistischer style. Das muss jeder für sich selbst entscheiden, wichtig ist nur, dass man sich von anderen nichts einreden oder aufschwatzen lässt. Der einzige Tipp, den ich jeder Braut mitgeben würde ist folgender: Achte auf die richtige Unterwäsche, am besten nahtlos und hautfarben.

1. describe yourself in 3 words.

I am very patient especially with people (My boyfriend said the other day, "You just go the right way, not the easy way."). I'm a doer type and don't like to babble. And a dreamer: on one hand I like to sleep and in waking life I live for my vision.

2. why bridal fashion?

I find bridal fashion particularly exciting because there is a lot of freedom to experiment. For a long time, bridal fashion was considered very classic, timeless and traditional. Nowadays, people generally place more value on individuality and don't want to dress up for others at the wedding, but rather emphasize their unique personality. However, it is not only my goal to create a more diverse range of bridal designs, I am also attracted by the magic that comes from a wedding dress. It is THE special piece of clothing in life.

3. what is most important to you in your work?

My goal is to eventually be able to produce completely sustainable bridal fashion. I take great care to waste as few resources as possible and only produce to order. Unfortunately, I have always had to compromise on materials, because the range of sustainable fabrics such as fine lace and embroidery leaves something to be desired - or is simply not available - and I don't want the aesthetics to suffer as a result. Despite everything, I do what is in my power and stay on the ball.

4. what was the motivation for your own label?

I always wanted to make myself independent. My grandparents had their own tailoring studio, my dad is also self-employed. I honestly never thought about a life where I didn't start a label. Somehow that's always been clear to me. I specialize so much in couture and bridal fashion and I love diving deeper and deeper into that. All the business aspects I find totally challenging and there is nothing more awesome to keep learning. I can do this one thing really well and I enjoy it, but I can't do anything else, so I wouldn't have an alternative at all ;)

5. what makes Ritual Unions special?

The diverse offering I talked about earlier is very special. It is important to me that every bride finds something she feels comfortable in. Apart from that, our production is something very rare: everything is handmade in our own studio in Berlin. This means that every single piece goes through my hand and long production routes and supply chains as well as mass and cheap production is excluded from the beginning. AND I have a much higher control over the quality. In addition, our own production also allows us to realize more elaborate techniques and more complicated designs that an external tailor shop, for example, would not be able to implement. In the founding phase of the label, I even sewed every single piece myself, and even today I spend 60% of my time at the sewing machine or the tailor's table.

6) How would you describe the Ritual Unions bride?

The motto of the last collection was "It's 2021, you can wear whatever the f** you want." The Ritual Unions bride does just that. She wears what she likes and shits on society norms. No matter what others might think, sheer, a black dress or shorts. Everything is allowed, as long as you feel comfortable.

7. what inspires you?

I find my inspiration everywhere: music, literature, art, nature or even psychology and esotericism. It can also be a muse that gives off a special vibe and inspires me to create a design. Or a challenging life situation that offers me new insights and gives rise to new impulses. Most of the time, however, I don't really know where the ideas come from. Often they simply arise in my subconscious, so that I myself am sometimes surprised what design comes out in the end.

8. Who is your absolute style icon?

In terms of fashion design: Alexander McQueen, for sure. I don't have a style icon in the sense of a famous person, or there are several, so I don't want to commit myself. In my personal style, independent of bridal fashion, I adore icons like Axl Rose (in young), Curt Kobain or Freddie Mercury. Except for the latter, they may not be fashion icons and funnily enough they are all men, but they just did their thing and that makes them authentic and role models in my opinion.

9. What is your favorite (current) design?

Hardest question ever. All of my designs are something totally intimate for me and are, after all, created from my innermost being. Often before the launch of a new collection I dream that I am pregnant. So my clothes are kind of like babies to me and I can't settle on a favorite. My clients' favorite designs are definitely the Shadow Dress and the Jen Dress. Interestingly enough, in the design process of these two dresses, I set out to only make what I wanted without thinking about whether or not it would go over well with the clients. In fact, those two dresses have become the most popular.

10: What styling tip would you give to every bride?

There are no universal rules. Personally, I'm more of a "go big or go home" type and like to exaggerate when it comes to styling. However, I also have phases where I prefer a more minimalist style. Everyone must decide for themselves, it is only important that you do not let others talk you into anything or talk you up. The only tip I would give every bride is the following: Make sure you wear the right underwear, preferably seamless and skin-colored.
